1
Cut Out
Print the downloadable templates and cut out the pieces making up the emblem (page 1) and the pattern for the cape (page 2). Don’t throw page 1 into the recycling bin just yet since the guide for assembling the pieces in the right order is at the bottom.
2
Outlining
First we’ll make the superhero’s emblem. Outline each piece on the appropriate color of adhesive felt, following the guide at the bottom of the template. Keep in mind that you need to turn the drawing over because when you outline it on the back of the felt it reverses the figure (this is important, for instance, for the “P” of Pocoyo).
3
Cut Out
Cut out the felt pieces with scisssors.
4
Assembly
Remove the paper backing from the adhesive felt pieces and stick them on one after the other in the order indicated on the template. Don’t remove the backing from the largest piece yet.
5
Fold
Now we’ll make the cape. Take the piece of red felt and fold it down the middle, making one 30x50 cm rectangle and place it vertically on your working surface with the fold on the right.
6
Outlining
With a black crayon, mark only the curved lines of the 2nd template on the red felt rectangle. Be sure to place the template as high as possible on the felt, with the template’s right aligned with the fold.
7
Drawing
Using a ruler, draw a line from the lower left edge of the felt rectangle to the bottom left corner of the template.
8
Cut
With the scissors, cut the felt along the line that you drew. Remove what’s left over. We now have the shape of the cape. Cut in half the piece of felt that’s left above the hole meant to go around your neck.
9
Fixing
Now remove the paper backing from the emblem and fix it to the center of the cape.
10
Attaching
Attach a piece of adhesive Velcro on each side of the neck opening so you can put on and take off the cape.
Now you have a super cape for a costume. It would go perfectly with the mask!
