Print the downloadable template and cut out the pieces that make up the suncatcher: Sleepy Bird’s silhouette (what you need is the black outline; keep the inside of the face for later), his eyes, eyebrow and beak.
Put Sleepy Bird’s silhouette on the transparent acetate and outline the outside with a permanent marker.
Cut out the outline you drew on the acetate.
Put Sleepy Bird’s silhouette on the piece of green construction paper and outline both the inside and outside with a pencil.
Cut out along both the lines you drew.
Place the acetate on the inside of the face which you put aside earlier so that you can see the lines marking the eyes, the eyebrow and the beak. Glue the construction paper silhouette onto the figure of Sleepy Bird on the acetate with white glue. Now glue the eyes, eyebrow and beak onto the acetate so that they are superimposed on the lines that you see below. Remove the template and let dry.
With the scissors, cut the blue and green tissue paper into small squares.
With a glue stick, paste the small squares all over the backside of the acetate. Cut off any overhanging edges.
Color in Sleepy Bird’s beak with an orange marker.
With a needle, insert a length of nylon thread through the upper part of the suncatcher and make a knot at the end so that you can hang it wherever you want.
And that’s it! Hang your suncatcher where the sun will hit it and you’ll see how beautifully it captures the light!
