1
Cut Out
Print the downloadable template and cut out the pieces.
2
Outling
Outline each piece on the corresponding material: Elly’s ears and trunk on the glossy pink or metallic paper; her eyes on the black construction paper and her rucksack and shoulder straps on the blue construction paper. For the ears and trunk, mark the dotted line as well.
3
Cut Out
Cut out all the pieces with scissors
4
Drawing
Draw the rucksack’s details with the black permanent marker.
5
Assembly
Assemble the paper lantern with its interior metal framework.
6
Knotting
Tie one end of the string to the tip of the chopstick. Leave a length of about 30 cm free and tie the other end to the top of the lantern’s metal framework.
7
Gluing
Now, using white glue, attach Elly’s ears, eyes and trunk onto the lantern, as well as the rucksack and shoulder straps. Let dry. In the case of the ears and trunk, only put glue on the areas meant to attach to the lantern, above the dotted lines.
And that’s it! Now you can place a safe source of light inside, such as an LED lamp, and go outside to celebrate the mid-autumn festival.
